Singer / Songwriter
Terry Rasor is from Fort Worth, Texas and has been writing songs and performing since the early seventies. He began playing the mandolin and guitar at age nine and was performing at only thirteen, singing and playing mandolin in the award winning bluegrass band, 'The Sunset Harmony Boys'. In 1988 Terry formed 'Over The Edge', and by 1990, he recorded and published his first album 'Terry Rasor and Over The Edge LIVE at Caravan of Dreams'. He was named 'Songwriter of the Year' in '91 by the MCMA. He has been actively involved in the Texas music scene and a strong voice for independent singers, songwriters and musicians by promoting his annual three day 'Raz On The Braz' music festival for the past fifteen years. Terry and his band have been through several changes, but the raw-gritty-straight ahead sound coupled with his incredibly soulful lyrics and melodies have held true through it all.....
From saloons to roadhouses, honky tonks and festivals, Terry plays over 100 live performances a year and his discography includes the '98 release of 'Takin Ransom', a chest full of self penned songs that includes two songs written by producer and legendary Texas rocker John Nitzinger. You'll hear the swampy sound of 'Crime Of The Century', songs that will tug at your heart, and that rockabilly favorite 'Don't Mess With Texas'! Successfully touring Europe twice, Terry is particularly fond of the Black Forest where he was deemed "dark and mysterious" in a Neckerburg Radio interview. His second CD, titled 'Texas Hi-Way Troubador' debuted in 2001 and has received extensive airplay in Germany, Sweden and Austrailia. Terry returned from his 2002 European tour with a fire in his belly and the appetite for an entirely new cache of songs. His third CD, 'Write It Down' is all original and was released at Terrys annual musicfest and campout 'Raz on the Braz' in August of '03. His latest release 'LIVE at Tommy Alversons Family Gathering' was recorded at Tres Rios River Ranch in October of '05 at Family Gathering 8.....
Four decades have past since his first audience and Terry has shared the stage with legends like Billy Joe Shaver, Rusty Wier, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Steven Fromholz, and Texas friends like John Nitzinger, Tommy Alverson and Davin James.
